Acceptance and the Future

“If you put yourself in a position where you have to stretch outside of your comfort zone, then you are forced to expand your consciousness.”
– Les Brown

I think the truely mature know how to accept people, ideas, thoughts, feelings, emotions, and choices, needs, wants, dreams, and the parts of themselves they’re ashamed of, whether or not they disagree with it.

Those who can do that, especially the highly disagreeable like me, will find a better life for themselves, because then they’ll realize they don’t have to agree with the people, institutions, hoops to jump through, or challenges that inevitably come their way, but must stay focused on what they want, and have the humility to learn from what they find hard to accept and move on by focusing on the big picture, what really matters, and therefore what’s most meaningful.
